Whats your Gmail story
“We’re continually reminded why we work so hard on Gmail when we hear stories from you about how you’re using it — from keeping your long-distance relationship alive over chat to saving a historic record of your high school life within a single conversation thread.

But pinning your stories on the walls around Google hasn’t been the best way to share them with the Gmail community, so we invited you to film yours instead.

The submission period ended on December 31st, 2007. Check out all of the submissions we received, and come back later to see the final cut. “

Another communications provider Skype is also using stories to plug how users lives are enhanced by their product. Or as they write, following in the footsteps of kodak, “we went to visit people… to capture the moment”. View stories here.

In contrast to Gmail’s user generated solicitation Skype chose to create stories through an interview lifestyle narrative approach.

Urban Learning Space

January 3, 2008

Urban Learning Space is a learning lab equipping the people of Scotland with the capabilities to face the challenges of 21st century life.

Nurturing an innate capacity for learning by using collaborative design processes, ULS create new approaches. These range from the building of creativity tools to support innovation, transforming public spaces into learning landscapes, and harnessing emerging technologies to explore new learning contexts.

For example: The AreanA storytelling project.

The ArenA project is investigating how creative approaches can be used to develop technological fluency within communities.

The project was designed to develop an online resource to encourage learning, specifically for the Greater Pollok community. Through a process of creative research methods and community consultation, StoryBox, a resource for creating and viewing stories, was designed.
